GET THE THERAPY YOU DESERVE...
Roots and Wings Counselling
As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I work with individuals, couples and families. I understand how difficult it can be to reach out for help, so creating an environment where you feel comfortable and safe is foundational to my work.

The most common issues I work with are interpersonal relationship issues, marriage and communication issues, marital intimacy enhancement, addiction- specifically working with sex addiction/partners of sex addicts, and those who are affected by sexual trauma and childhood trauma.

My approach is client-centered; my main objective is to help empower you to identify and reach your goals. I endeavour to create a gentle and safe space while aiming for achievable results.

In addition to working in private practice, I have worked in a residential rehab facility for drugs and alcohol, in public and alternative school settings as an addiction counsellor, and in high schools and colleges as a teacher and administrator. I also regularly contribute to Family First, Mishpacha Magazine in the area of mental health and other feature articles.

I am dedicated to continued learning and expertise - especially in the area of trauma informed treatment and addiction. I am a certified EMDR practitioner (EMDRIA), and a Certified Partner Trauma Therapist (CPTT) through IITAP.
My primary work includes supporting betrayed partners of sex addicts, as well as the couple affected by Sex Addiction.
Other trainings include: Belief Focused Approach to Psychotherapy, Sexual Reintegration Therapy, and Gottman Relationship Training (current).

Do you prescribe medication or diagnose?Diagnosis and prescription is out of my scope of practice as a psychotherapist.
-
How long are appointments?Session length is 50 minutes or a session and a half which is 75 minutes. 75 sessions are recommended for EMDR/trauma work or couples sessions.
-
Do you accept insurance?I am out of network, private pay only. As I am licensed in both Canada and the US, I can support clients in either country and have comparable rates in each currency.
-
How do I book a session? There is a link that will bring you to a private and secure appointment system called EasyPractice. You can schedule appointments and will get automated reminders prior to session.
-
How long does therapy take?Therapy is a dynamic process. I support brief treatment and we can work within your session goals. Trauma and Addiction treatment usually takes longer than other modalities or issues due to the complex nature of its presentation. Depending on your needs and goals, we can determine together how long would be most helpful and beneficial to you. Intensive work is an effective way to engage deeply yet still mindful of the time spent in therapy.
-
Do you have evening hours?Presently, I do not see clients in the evenings.
-
Do you see clients in person?I am currently working via telehealth (Zoom) - including my betrayed partner groups.
